JOB TITLE: SUPPORT WORKER - SLEEPOVER

REPORTING TO: Management team (Team leader/ Care Manager of Reach Deaf
Services Education service)

LOCATION: Primarily between St Mary?s, St Joseph?s Boarding
Campus, and an ?Independent House? located beside St Joseph?s
Boarding Campus. At times, the successful candidate may be called upon
to work in Reach Deaf Services Support Living Service

CONTRACT DURATION:

HOURS: (sample roster- approx.): Week on/week off roster OR 2 shifts
one week, 3 shifts following week

SUMMARY:

Reach Deaf Services provides a range of specialised services to young
Deaf people who attend the schools that share the same campus. We
operate during term time only. We seek to offer a homely environment
for all boarders with an emphasis on facilitating their personal
development to achieve their full potential whilst involved in
education. We seek to achieve a reputation for innovation and a strong
commitment to high standards in terms of our practice. The needs of
our boarders are our highest priority and guide us in our work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Below are the key areas of responsibility;

* Supporting boarders needs in a holistic way- emotional, physical,
psychological, spiritual needs, and any specific needs a Boarder may
have.
* ?There are specific duties to be completed on sleepover shifts
and these will be outlined at the point of induction, during the
probation period, regularly by management, and within service
documentation. It is the staff members responsibility to complete all
relevant tasks. Examples of duties include providing a high standard
of care to Boarders in the areas of personal hygiene, continence,
mobility, dressing, preparation for bedtime and assisting them with
their morning time routine.
* To work as part of the team supporting children before and at
bedtime (approx. 9.**Apply on the website**pm- 9:**Apply on the
website**am) and supporting children early morning- before school time
(approx. 7am-9.**Apply on the website**am). The sleepover staff member
usually sleeps (rest period) between **Apply on the website**am and
7am but may be called upon during those hours to assist the live night
team, if the need arises.
* At times, and with prior adequate notice and agreement with the
sleepover staff member, the sleepover staff member may be required to
work a live night shift in place of a sleepover shift for roster cover
purposes.
* Work sleepover shifts as per roster that is in line with service
needs.
* Implement operational plans as determined by the Head of Care/Care
Manager/ Team Leaders.
* Ensure compliance with practice with organisational policies,
procedures, national legislation, Children First, HIQA/TULSA and other
applicable standards.
* Contribute in the recording of all documentation e.g. risk
assessments, complaints, Individual Crisis Support Plan`s.
* Promote an ISL environment with ISL being the first language in
use within the service.
* Assisting other staff in their role of keyworker.
* Maintain good household standards and encourage the children/young
adults to help with tasks including cooking, shopping, laundry and
household chores.
* Work with relevant others in order to support the boarders.
* Engage with parents/carers of boarders on an ongoing basis.
* Participate in reflective supervision with the Social Care
Leader/Care Manager.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

* QQI level 5 Care Assistant or equivalent
* QQI (Formerly FETAC) Level 3 in Irish Sign Language or commitment

within two years
* Full clean driving licence
* Experience of working effectively with a range of stakeholders to
provide services to young people either in the community or within a
residential setting
* Minimum of one years? experience working in a
boarding/residential care setting
* Experience of providing /receiving reflective supervision to
facilitate professional development
* Experience of HIQA/TUSLA or equivalent audit processes
